All the shopping, cooking and cleaning during the holiday season can feel exhausting and practically turn you into a humbug. Do you need a quick injection of some holiday spirit? One of our favorite ways to feel festive is watching a holiday film. Here are 10 of our favorite Christmas movies in no particular order, so put out a yummy Christmas Chocolate Pizza, dim the lights, get comfy under a warm blanket and watch one with your friends or family.
1. “A Christmas Carol”
This Charles Dickens tale is a holiday classic, and a new version hits the big screen every few years. Whether you prefer the 1938 movie starring Reginald Owen or a more recent animated or musical adaptation, you are sure to feel a bit jollier after watching it.
2. “Elf”
For a fun, modern holiday film, choose this 2003 hit starring Will Ferrell as Buddy the Elf. It has plenty of silly sight gags, but the heartfelt sentimental message makes it a must-see year after year.
3. “It’s a Wonderful Life”
If you haven’t seen this 1946 masterpiece, make this the year you give it a view. This black-and-white film starring Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey can melt the iciest of winter hearts with its feel-good happy ending.
4. “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas”
This Disney stop-motion film from 1993 is the perfect film to transition from spooky season to the holidays. It’s a winner with adults and children who don’t mind a little creepy with their Christmas.

9. “A Christmas Story”
This 1983 movie tells a tale as old as time: a child desperately wants a certain toy for Christmas. That’s a premise nearly anyone can relate to!
10. “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation”
You aren’t the only one who gets a little frustrated during the holidays. Watch this 1989 Chevy Chase movie to have a giggle and remember not to take this season too seriously.
